JetBlue has officially added new daily nonstop flights between New York and Nassau in The Bahamas, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The new service, which kicked off last week, is now operating every day between New York’s LaGuardia International Airport and Nassau’s Lynden Pindling International Airport.

The flight takes just over three hours.

It’s another boost for what continues to be one of the most popular destinations in the wider Caribbean right now: Nassau Paradise Island, and represents yet another new route for JetBlue, which continues to add new routes to the Caribbean, buoyed by its new Northeast Alliance with American Airlines.

Nassau Paradise Island is seeing surging visitors numbers, following a 2022 that saw hotel occupancy climb by 23.2 percentage points and room revenue surpass 2021 levels by 112 percent.

Nassau Paradise Island now has nonstop air service from more than 38 markets worldwide, including in the United States, Canada, Europe and South America.

Air arrivals this year are likely to exceed the destination’s visitor numbers from 2019, before the onset of the pandemic, with tourism officials very optimistic about what’s ahead for the rest of 2023.

From the strong success of larger resorts like Atlantis Paradise Island and the Baha Mar to boutique hotels like Graycliff, the destination continues to grow and diversify.

That includes a dynamic culinary scene that has become arguably the hottest in the Caribbean, cultivating new local eateries and drawing in top chefs like the Michelin-starred Michael White, who is opening a new Italian-focused eatery at Atlantis this quarter.
