JetBlue Airways is set to launch new daily nonstop flights between New York and The Bahamas, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The new nonstop route will operate every day between New York’s LaGuardia International Airport and Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau, the capital of The Bahamas.

The service will be kicking off later this month, with the first flight to operate on March 30, according to JetBlue.

The flight will take about three hours and eight minutes, the carrier said.

JetBlue is operating the route on its A320 aircraft (the flight will not include Mint cabin service).

The new route comes as Nassau Paradise Island is surpassing its pre-pandemic tourism levels, according to Joy Jibrilu, CEO of the Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board.

Last year, hotel occupancy was 65.2 percent in Nassau Paradise Island, up from 42 percent in 2021, as the destination continues its sizzling tourism rebound.

The launch of the new flights will conclude what is a big month for the destination, which is hosting its first-ever Nassau Paradise Island Wine & Food Festival at the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort from March 15 to 19.

That event will include a lineup of celebrity chefs and an exciting slate of food experiences highlighting the destinations growing power as a culinary destination. Chefs signed on include Duff Goldman, Alex Guarnaschelli, JJ Johnson, Aaron Sanchez, Andrew Zimmern Alon Shaya, Michael White and Jose Andres. White is opening a new outpost at Atlantis’ Cove resort called Parranza.

Nassau also just welcomed the highly-anticipated new Goldwynn Resort and Residences to its iconic Cable Beach.
