In Montego Bay, Jamaica, a New Kind of All-Inclusive Vacation

The S Hotel in Montego Bay.

Since its debut in 2019, the S Hotel has been quietly redefining the vacation experience in downtown Montego Bay, injecting new energy into the “Hip Strip,” a corner of Jamaica that had lost much of its tourism luster over the years.

Fast forward to 2023, and the 120-room S Hotel, part of the Crissa Hotels portfolio, is doing it again, this time with a relaunch of its popular all-inclusive program.

Forget what you know about the typical all-inclusive: here, it’s about touches like a Jamaican Blue Mountain espresso bar, daily yoga and authentic Jamaican flavors.

“During the pandemic, since many restaurants were closed in the Montego Bay area, our guests opted to dine on property and because we had a surplus of food stocks due to lower occupancy, we were able to provide complimentary dinners,” said Christopher Issa, CEO and owner of S Hotel Jamaica.

“The guests loved the quality and creativity of our meals. As a result, more than three-quarters of our guests have been asking for the all-inclusive option, as well as our travel advisor partners, and we are confident that it will make the hotel an even more enjoyable place to experience our signature Jamaican hospitality.”

The culinary story is diverse here, from the Italian-Jamaican fusion eatery Rocksteady to a pair of new eateries at the hotel, Jamrock, which is set on the resort’s Sky Deck level and has panoramic views of the sea; and Roots Rock, which serves up authentic Jamaican dishes like ackee and sailfish, jerk chicken and oxtail in a space designed by Rohan Bair.

The S Hotel has also added a rather unique category: the Ocean View Junior Suite with Cabana, which is set on the ground floor and includes access to a personal cabana.

It’s not the first time the hotel launched an all-inclusive plan, having coined its “boutique all-inclusive” offering last year. But now it’s back, and better than ever.

It’s a different experience than you’ll find in much of Montego Bay: hip, modern and filled with Jamaican personality, a fitting sister hotel to the outstanding Spanish Court Hotel in Kingston.

The hotel says all-inclusive rates begin at $529 per night based on double occupancy.
