Canadian ultra-low-cost carrier Swoop has restarted another route to Jamaica for the winter season, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The airline has officially resumed its weekly nonstop service between Hamilton, Ontario and Montego Bay, Jamaica.

That service is operating weekly on Saturdays.

“As Canada’s leading ultra-low fare airline, we are thrilled to bring back our popular service between Hamilton and Montego Bay as part of our historic winter expansion,” said Bob Cummings, President of Swoop. “With demand for leisure travel at an all-time high across Canada, we are excited to be leading the [ultra-low-cost carrier] market for sun flying, enabling Hamiltonians to escape to warmer climates this winter.”

Swoop is now operating more than 100 flights to so-called “sun” destinations in North America for the peak tourist season.

That includes eight routes each week out of Hamilton, accounting for a total of 24 weekly flights.

Swoop said the route represented the last of its seasonal restarts for this winter.

It’s part of what is expected to be a surge in visits to Jamaica by Canadian travelers this winter.
