Beach Journal: Cockleshell Bay, St Kitts

st kitts beach

Think of our newest feature, Beach Journal, as a guide to one of the Caribbean’s greatest treasures: its almost infinite collection of remarkable stretches of sand.

We’ll be taking you on a trip across some of our favorite places to laze, explore, swim or chill around the islands of the Caribbean, from pocket-sized beaches in town to remote, hard-to-reach, exotic beaches you may have never heard of.

The first one is lovable Cockleshell Beach, located on St Kitts’ spectacularly beautiful Southeast Peninsula.

the scenery is stunning.

The sand and the scenery are stunning.

But what really stands out about Cockleshell is the sheer number of beach bars: one after another, one more colorful than the next, all perfect spots for rum punches or cold Caribs or Stags.

The best part is it’s easy to access, via a decidedly scenic drive from the Basseterre area across the peninsula (it’s one of the most stunning roads in the whole Caribbean).
