Blue Diamond Resorts has taken over management of one of the most iconic hotels in Havana, Cuba, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The company, which is in the midst of another major expansion push in Cuba, is now operating and managing the Inglaterra Hotel in Old Havana.

The move officially took effect on Nov. 1.

The 83-room hotel will continue to operate under its own name, “maintaining its legacy as National Monument and the ideal place for architecture and history lovers,” Blue Diamond said in a statement.

“We want to offer a wide variety of accommodation options to provide the best experiences. Operating the Inglaterra Hotel, which for many years has been a symbol of elegance and history in Havana, will allow us to increase our business opportunities with our partners and reach more vacationers who want to discover the charms of the colonial city”, said Mohamad Fawzi, Managing Director for Blue Diamond Resorts Cuba.

It’s the third Blue Diamond-portfolio hotel to debut in recent months, joining the Royalton Habana and the Mystique Habana by Royalton.

Blue Diamond also recently took over management of 11 different resort properties on the island of Cayo Largo del Sur.
