BWH Hotel Group to Open Major New Destination Resort in Curacao

By: Caribbean Journal Staff

By Alexander Britell

There’s a major new destination resort coming to the island of Curacao, Caribbean Journal Invest has learned.

The new Aiden by Best Western Bapor Kibra Curacao Resort is now in development in the heart of Mambo Beach, the South Beach of Curacao – and it is the first Aiden resort in the Caribbean.

The resort will include 160 rooms, 20 of which will have swim-up pools, along with amenities like a pool, casino, rooftop bar, five different onsite dining concepts and a convenience store.

The Mambo Beach property will also be joined by a residential component consisting of two apartment towers comprised of 72 units, a mix of 48 one-bedroom apartments and 24 two-bedrooms.

“It’s the first property on the island with everything on the premises,” says principal Nathalie Faria, who is developing and operating the project with partner Akash Soemeer. “This is one of the hottest areas in Curacao for development right now.”

“The construction and development of this hotel is something both Akash and I feel very passionate about – we have no doubt it will deliver a one-of-a-kind experience in the ever-growing Mambo Beach,” Faria said.

She said the idea for the team to acquire and develop hotels began with a visit to Colombia, where Soemeer and Faria felt inspired to “reimagine the hotel experience” through their own approach to owning and operating a hotel.

“The Aiden will be the centerpiece of the already hugely popular area of Bapor Kibra in Curacao, and it will deliver a truly unique guest experience,” Faria said.

Aiden hotels “offer guests access to the pinnacle of boutique, resort and upscale lodging, and an experience as unique as the destination itself,” according to BWH Hotels. Aiden Bapor Kibr “captures Curacao’s local flair and sense of spirited adventure through its creative style and upscale amenities.”

“This new Curacao resort will bring our fast-growing, modern, and hyper-local Aiden brand to a hip and trendy area of Curacao – it’s a natural fit,” said Bill Clegg, BWH Hotel Group Director of Development for the Caribbean region. “Nathalie and Akash live in Curacao and know the island very well. We are excited to have them bring their strong entrepreneurial spirit to this project. They have clearly demonstrated their passion for delivering a high-quality product and memorable hospitality experiences through their success with the Brion City Hotel, a BW Signature Collection property. We are pleased to add a second hotel under their direction.”

And their new project is a major injection of energy into Mambo Beach, which has been one of the hubs of development in Curacao in the last few years.

“Mambo Beach is an incredibly popular destination for locals and travelers alike,” Faria tells Caribbean Journal Invest. “This is a new part of the island that is being developed for tourists, and the government is pushing very hard for that. Everybody wants to be there — the locals want to live there, and the tourists want to stay there.”

And it’s a part of a fast-expanding Caribbean portfolio for BWH Hotel Group.

BWH Hotel Group is a, global hospitality network comprised of three hotel companies, including WorldHotels Collection, Best Western Hotels & Resorts and SureStay Hotel Group. The global network has approximately 4,500 hotels in over 100 countries and territories worldwide. With 18 brands across every chain scale segment, from economy to luxury, BWH Hotel Group “suits the needs of developers and guests in every market,” Clegg says.

“This new resort will complement our other Caribbean properties, located in Puerto Rico, Aruba, Curacao, Belize, USVI, and Turks & Caicos, and will add another exciting option for our loyal BWH Hotel Group guests who are seeking unique hotels and inviting destinations for their leisure, group and business travel,” Clegg said.
