It’s been a banner year for tourism in the Mexican Caribbean, but the Yucatan’s tourism hub is showing no signs of slowing down.

In fact, it just had its best month of the year.

Passenger traffic to Cancun International Airport last month totaled 2.414 million, representing a 36.4 percent increase over the same period in 2019, before the pandemic.

It was also a 21.9 percent improvement over October 2021, which was already a sizzling month for tourism.

For the year, passenger traffic in Cancun stands at just over 24.8 million, a 17.3 percent increase over the same period in 2019 and a 41.1 percent increase over October 2021.

Cancun is managed by ASUR, which has a portfolio of airports in Mexico, Colombia and Puerto Rico.
