The Caribbean’s Makana Ferry Is Expanding to St Kitts
One of the Caribbean’s best island-hopping options is adding another new destination.
The popular Makana Ferry is expanding to the island of St Kitts, Caribbean Journal has learned.
The ferry is already sailing across Statia, St Maarten and Saba, is adding St Kitts to its portfolio.
The 72-foot catamaran fast ferry can transport up to 150 passengers across two decks.
The fully air-conditioned ferry has a bar service area, an upper deck with a covered business class area and an open sun deck area up top.
The addition of St Kitts means travelers can experience December’s upcoming Sugar Mas Carnival, along with next spring’s St Kitts Music Festival, among other events.
Initial service for Makana on St Kitts will include ferry routes between St Maarten and St Kitts, Saba and St Kitts and Statia and St Kitts.
The St Maarten-St Kitts is perhaps the most anticipated route of the three, meaning another way to access St Kitts through St Maarten’s broad airlift network from around the world.
