Puerto Rico is one of the most beautiful places in the Caribbean.

Not that you’d necessarily know it — due to a combination of highly unfavorable media coverage, poor marketing and unfortunately resilient misconceptions, it’s an island that still remains a mystery for many travelers, even the most passionate Caribbean explorers.

So when you get here, the biggest surprise is just how beautiful the beaches are — even in urban areas.

That’s nowhere more true than in Isla Verde, the wonderful beach town about 15 minutes outside of San Juan, close to Luis Munoz Marin International Airport.

It’s here that you’ll find an intoxicating strand of white-gold sand, a beach oasis in the heart of a major city.
