Antigua Eyes “Promising” Cruise Season

Antigua continues to see big cruise growth.

Antigua is projecting a “promising” cruise season in 2022-2023, according to officials at the Antigua Cruise Port.

The Port is forecasting 345 calls for a total of 616,419 passengers by the end of the peak cruise season.

And January 2023 is set to be the busiest month, with 79 calls and 135,810 passengers.

“In comparison to the modest summer months of 2022, May – September 2023 will see a total of 18 cruise ship calls depicting the growth and development of Antigua’s cruise industry,” says Dona Regis Prosper, general manager of Antigua Cruise Port.

Antigua will also serve as homeport for the Royal Clipper ship of Star Clipper Cruises in December.

Another ship, P&O Cruises’ Ariva, will be home-porting in Antigua from January 2023 to March 2023, while Emerald Cruises will be running weekly operations out of the port.

It’s all the result of a concerted push by Antigua to attract more home-porting ships, and another rise for one of the Caribbean’s fastest-growing cruise ports.
