The

Grenada’s top luxury hotel is set to reopen next month following a multimillion-dollar renovation project, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The Calabash Luxury Boutique Hotel closed on Aug. 15 to begin the project, which will bring the “standards of the five-star resort to an increased level of luxury,” according to a statement from the property.

The property will reopen on Oct. 1.

“We understand that our competition are luxury resorts worldwide, and with standards so high, we

want to make sure that Calabash is constantly pushing forward to stand with the best in the world,” said Adele Garbutt, one of the hotel’s directors and part of the family that owns the hotel.  “We strongly believe in the importance of upgrading the hotel during our closure periods each year. Over the past 35 years we have extensively reinvested in the property, however this year we are levelinp our accommodation which is a very exciting project.”

The main focus is the complete renovation of the hotel’s two-bedroom Penthouse Suite.

Grenadian architecture firm IK Architecture is leading its design and Quinn Company Limited is completing the construction.

The project also includes a push on energy efficiency and water conservation.

The hotel will also be upgrading the walkways around the hotel and its “Heart of House” ares.

“It is our duty to make changes to reduce our impact on the environment and to preserve our

island’s natural beauty,: said Beth Garbutt, company director at Calabash.
