Canada’s Blue Diamond is taking over management of the Paseo del Prado La Habana, Cuba’s newest luxury hotel.

The hotel, which had been operating under Accor’s SO/hotels brand, has a total of 250 rooms and suites in a prominent location right on the city’s famous Malecon.

The rebranded Royalton Habana will open its doors on Aug. 1, 2022, according to Blue Diamond.

The hotel is home to three restaurants and bars and a rooftop infinity pool overlooking the Bay of Havana.

The hotel is owned by Cuba’s state-owned Gaviota tourism company.

“This new addition to our portfolio is a major milestone to our company and the region.” mentioned Mohamad Fawzi, Managing Director for Blue Diamond Resorts Cuba. “Royalton Habana will allow us to evolve in city tourism with a hotel focused on luxury with which we will be able to make our clients enjoy great experiences. We are convinced that it will become a benchmark hotel for both Blue Diamond Resorts Cuba and the region.”

Blue Diamond continues to expand in Cuba, where the company recently was tapped to manage the island of Cayo Largo.
