Bonaire’s new entry tax for visitors will take effect on July 1.
The tax is what officials call a “streamlined” tax, meaning it will take the place of the island’s current room tax and rental car tax.
The new tax will be a $75-per-visit levy, aimed at supporting the island’s infrastructure, tourism product, eco efforts and education.
The tax will apply to all non-residents 13 and over entering Bonaire.
Non-residents aged 12 and under will be required to pay a $10 per visit fee.
Visitors can pay the tax online here, and can do so ahead of their trips beginning June 28.
There is also the option of paying on arrival at Bonaire’s Flamingo International Airport.
“We encourage all visitors to pay the visitor entry tax in advance on www.bonaireisland.com which will allow them to swiftly start their vacation sooner upon arrival,” said Miles Mercera, Tourism Corporation Bonaire’s CEO.
Bonaire has seen sizzling visitor numbers in 2022, traffic buoyed recently by the highly successful Bonaire Rum Week Presented by Caribbean Journal in June.
