In a significant milestone, the Dutch Caribbean island of Curacao just eclipsed its pre-pandemic numbers for the month of April.

Last month, Curacao reported 42,715 stayover visitors, representing 106 percent of its arrivals in April 2019.

That was buoyed by the destination’s decision to remove all testing protocols for inbound travelers.

The European market continued to account for the vast majority of the island’s arrivals, with about 61 percent from the continent.

About 17 percent of travelers to Curacao last month came from North America.

For the first four months of the year, Curacao has recovered 92 percent of tourist arrivals from 2019, according to the Curacao Tourist Board.

That represents a total of 167,000 visitors in 2022.
