It’s been one of the fastest-growing airlines in the Caribbean amid the pandemic, and now low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines is set to launch another expansion to the region.

In June and July, Frontier will kick off new nonstop service to the Caribbean out of Tampa, with routes to Montego Bay, Jamaica; Punta Cana and Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic; and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Daily Tampa-San Juan service will launch on June 23, followed by twice-weekly Tampa Bay-Montego Bay, Jamaica service on June 24.

Notably, neither Jamaica or the Dominican Republic requires pre-testing for travelers.

“We are pleased to significantly expand our international service from Tampa,” said Daniel Shurz, senior vice president of commercial at Frontier Airlines. “We will now offer more nonstop flights from Tampa to destinations in Latin America than any other carrier. The new service to San Juan will provide robust options for those heading to Puerto Rico to visit friends and family or to enjoy the island’s beautiful beaches and warm hospitality.”

On June 30, Frontier will start twice-weekly flights between Tampa and Santo Domingo, followed by once-weekly Saturday service between Tampa and Punta Cana, the Dominican Republic’s most popular destination.

The news comes after Frontier’s already-announced launch of flights between Tampa and Cancun on the Caribbean coast of Mexico.

“Frontier has been an important part of TPA’s recovery and growth over the past year and we’re excited to now see this partnership expand into international service for our passengers,” said Joe Lopano, CEO of Tampa International Airport CEO said. “We expect these flights to be extremely popular here and a welcome addition to our roster of nonstop destinations.”

Frontier has been on a broad expansion push to the Caribbean, concentrated on the Caribbean’s most popular destinations like the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, the US Virgin Islands, The Bahamas and Cancun.
