MSC Cruises is set to launch its newest cruise ship for the Caribbean, with plans to ultimately homeport in New York.

The MSC Seascape will hold its naming ceremony in Manhattan on Dec. 7, 2022, with film legend Sophia Loren as its godmother.

MSC Seascape will head to Miami immediately following ceremony for an inaugural season of Caribbean cruises out of PortMiami.

That will include seven-day itineraries to both the Eastern and Western Caribbean.

The ship will sail year-round cruises out of the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal beginning in April 2023.

“This is the latest example of the significant investment we’re making in the U.S. and the Caribbean, which includes building the largest cruise terminal in North America at PortMiami and offering Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve as both a stunning tropical destination and a reflection of our commitment to the environment,” said Ruben Rodriguez, president of MSC Cruises USA.

The ship is the fourth in MSC’s Seaside class.
