The Dutch Caribbean island of Curacao is continuing its broad tourism recovery.

The island welcomed 111,000 visitors in the first quarter of 2022 – representing around 88 percent of tourist arrivals in the first quarter of 2019.

That was buoyed by strong numbers out of the Dutch market — which actually sent 38 percent more travelers in March than in the same period in 2019 — a total of 22,252 visitors.

That was along with 7,429 visitors from the United States, and just under 1,000 visitors from Canada.

The island also welcomed 39 cruise ships totaling 60,237 cruise visitors in March.

“Our progress to recoup our pre-pandemic production continues in the right direction,” the island’s hotel and tourism association said in a statement.

The Curacao Tourist Board says it is projecting a strong performance in April as well.
