Delta Air Lines has expanded its service to Panama City, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The carrier has added three of new routes from the United States this week, including Los Angeles-Panama, New York-Panama Orlando-Panama.

That’s along with a second flight between Atlanta and Panama City.

The additions mean an 80 percent increase in capacity compared to the same period in 2019, according to a statement from Delta.

“Delta’s three new routes and the additional service will enable friends and family to reunite this holiday, and for leisure and business travelers to discover all that Panama has to offer,” said Luciano Macagno, Delta’s Managing Director – Latin America, Caribbean and South Florida. “Our customers in Panama now have access to four major U.S. cities and a host of connections to points throughout the world, along with award-winning customer service. We look forward to introducing more customers in Panama to the Delta Difference.”

It’s a big boost for a destination that has made no secret of its push to grow tourism, particularly to its broad Caribbean coastline.

The LA and Orlando flights are both operating once each week on Boeing 757 aircraft.

The JFK service is operating three times each week, with a fourth weekly flight set to launch in March 2022.
