Playa Names New Chief Investment Officer

By: Caribbean Journal Staff

Playa Hotels and Resorts has announced “organizational changes” to advance strategic growth, the company said.

The centerpiece of the changes is the promotion of former executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer Fernando Mulet to the newly-created position of Chief Investment Officer.

Mulet will be expanding his role to lead the company’s new Playa Collection, an in-house membership program set to debut this month.

He will also oversee the company’s growing third-party resort management operations, while assuming asset management duties.

“Fernando has long been an asset to Playa and my executive team,” said Bruce Wardinski, chairman and chief executive officer, Playa Hotels & Resorts, “and this next step reflects his tremendous success growing our footprint across Mexico and the Caribbean.”

The move comes as another top executive, former Chief Commercial Officer and EVP Kevin Froemming, has left the company.

Dean Sullivan has been promoted to senior Vice President and will lead Playa’s marketing and sales efforts.
