One of the most prominent all-inclusive resorts in Puerto Plata has reopened its doors, Caribbean Journal has confirmed.

The Senator Puerto Plata Resort officially reopened this week, following a $100 million project.

Dominican Republic President Luis Abinader was on hand for the relaunch, which included a $40 million renovation project and took over a year.

In a statement, Senator Hotels President Jose Maria Rossell said the reopening spoke to the “trust placed in Puerto Plata.”

The resort is part of the Senator Hotels and Resorts chain, which is based and Spain and has a total of 37 hotel properties worldwide.

The relaunch comes as the Dominican Republic continues to bet big on the future of Puerto Plata, including the recent inauguration of a new cruise port.
