First Super 8 Hotels Break Ground in the Caribbean
Wyndham’s Super 8 budget hotel brand is expanding to the Caribbean, Caribbean Journal Invest has learned.
A pair of Super 8 by Wyndham properties have broken ground in the province of Monte Cristi in the northwest of the Dominican Republic.
The two hotels, which will combine for 120-room complex, one that will have event rooms, gardens, pools, restaurants and bars.
The complex is being developed by Jaime Santana Bonetti, who said he was hoping to turn the border province with Haiti into a tourist destination in its own right.
Bonetti said Monte Cristi was an area “blessed with enormous geographical potential, but one that needs a group of experienced entrepreneurs.”
He said he hoped other groups would be encouraged to invest in the area.
“The construction of the hotels ensures a hopeful future for the inhabitants of this region,” said Dominican Republic President Luis Abinader, who was on hand for the groundbreaking. “They will also guarantee the strengthening of the tourist offer for visitors.”
