The French Caribbean island of Martinique has named a new Tourism Commissioner, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The Martinique Tourism Authority has tapped Benedicte de Geronimo to the role.

Di Geronimo, a graduate of the Sorbonne in Paris, is working to “reduce the impact of the pandemic on Martinique’s tourism economy.”

“My priority is to have Martinique strive more than ever for excellence,” she said in a statement.

Di Geronimo succeeds former Tourism Commissioner Karine Mousseau in the role.

She said her priority would be to pursue and boost both the air and cruise strategies for the United States market.
