The US Virgin Islands continues to set the Caribbean standard for live, in-person events in the age of the pandemic.

The latest event in the territory is a “vaccination jam” called “Soca on the Pier,” an outdoor concert in St Croix, limited to 200 attendees and open only to patrons who are fully vaccinated.

The event, set for Oct. 16, will include a lineup of Virgin Islands music stars, including Pumpa, Blackest & Fusion Band, VIO International and Lips Int’l.

“The U.S. Virgin Islands is maintaining its vigilance related to managing the COVID-19 public health crisis, and we are doing everything in our power to support Governor Albert Bryan Jr.’s initiative to increase the vaccination rate in the Territory,” said USVI Commissioner of Tourism Joseph Boschulte.

The event will be held at the Frederiksted pier; all guests must comply with health and safety protocols, including physical distancing, mask-wearing and hand sanitization.

“Our goal is to encourage people in the community to get vaccinated so we can continue returning to a sense of normalcy in the Territory,” said Ian Turnbull, Director of the USVI Division of Festivals.

It’s the third such event held by the Division of Festivals; it will also be available on Facebook and YouTube on the Division’s page.
