Hyatt Names New Managing Director for Caribbean Resort

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - September 10, 2021

Hyatt has named a new managing director for its newest resort in the Caribbean: the Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve Puerto Rico.

The company has tapped Mark Frances to the role; he had most recently served as the managing director at the Queen Mary in Long Beach, Calif.

His other stops have included work at properties in Saint Lucia, Barbados, Grenada and Aruba, among other destinations.

“The Caribbean, specifically Puerto Rico, is one of the few places in the world where I feel most at home. I am humbled to join the Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve Puerto Rico team and help further establish the resort as one of the top destinations in Puerto Rico,” Frances said.

He is joined by a new director of marketing and communications for the property, Betty Gonzalez.

“I’ve always admired this property throughout my years working in the hospitality industry in Puerto Rico and am thrilled to join the team after its recent renovation and launch of new amenities and programming,” Gonzalez said. “I look forward working alongside Mark and the rest of the management team to showcase our remarkable property to the world.”

Hyatt opened the resort at the end of 2019, following a transformation of the former Gran Melia resort in Coco Beach.
