Cruise ships have returned to Cartagena on the Caribbean coast of Colombia.

The first cruise ship to return to the Port of Cartagena was Windstar’s Star Breeze ship this week.

So far, 26 cruise ships are expected to arrive in Cartagena next season, along with seven in Santa Marta.

That’s about 57 percent of the calls the country had for the 2019-2020 season, according to ProColombia.

“We continue working for the safe economic reactivation of the country and its tourism sector. In addition to what has been achieved for the return of shipping companies to the country, we have made great efforts to comply with the biosecurity measures implemented in the city and activate all the actors in the chain,” said María Ximena Lombana Villalba, Colombia’s Minister of Trade, Industry and Tourism.

Star Breeze arrived in Cartagena with 312 passengers as part of a 14-day itinerary visiting the Southern Caribbean and Panama.

Other cruise lines expected to arrive in Cartagena this upcoming season include Celebrity Cruises, Royal Caribbean, Scenic Luxury Cruises, Carnival Cruise Lines, Holland America, Princess Cruises and MSC Cruises; and for Santa Marta, Norwegian Cruise Line and the new Ritz Carlton Yacht Collection.
