Air Europa has launched new flights to the Dominican Republic, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The Spain-based carrier has kicked off new service between Madrid and Samana.

It’s the first flight from Madrid to the increasingly hot destination in the Dominican Republic.

270 tourists arrived this week on the first flight to El Catey International Airport, according to tourism officials.

“This route strengthens the air connectivity of this important tourist pole,” the Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism said in a statement.

The flight will be operating once weekly on Saturdays.
