More Americans Are Traveling to Saint Lucia

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - June 29, 2021

Saint Lucia’s tourism sector is continuing to recover, particularly in the all-important United States market.

Indeed, the company has recovered 81 percent of the US market as compared to May 2019, according to the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority.

Since the island’s tourism reopening in June 2020, the destination has welcomed back almost 81,000 visitors.

Saint Lucia also recently welcomed the reintroduction of American Airlines’ flight service from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, a flight route that had last operated in 2009.

That was joined by new nonstop service to Saint Lucia from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

“This is a historic and significant moment for the destination,” said Saint Lucia Tourism Minister Dominic Fedee. “With the advent of more tourism corridors, this means more economic gains that the people of Saint Lucia will benefit from. In

strategically positioning Saint Lucia’s tourism, the SLTA is working assiduously to establish a year-round service.”
