Southwest Airlines is adding two new routes to San Juan, Puerto Rico this fall, Caribbean Journal has learned.

In November, the carrier will be kicking off new routes from both St Louis and Buffalo-Niagara airports, with service set to begin on Nov. 6.

Both route will be operating weekly on Saturdays.

“The airline shares our vision of Puerto Rico as a destination that has all the qualities to offer a safe and world-class stay to its passengers, and we look forward to continuing to collaborate to maximize the growth potential of our alliance,” said Carlos Mercado Santiago, executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company.

Including the new flights, Southwest will operate nine nonstop routes to and from San Juan, following the March 2021 addition of Nashville-San Juan flights.

“These new routes to St Louis and Buffalo demonstrate the great potential that Southwest sees on the island as a tourist and business destination.” Said Jose Piza Batiz, executive director of Puerto Rico’s Ports Authority.
