St Thomas’ Downtown Historic District is getting major new energy.
Beginning May 28, Charlotte Amalie’s charming downtown will be open for shopping and dining until 8 PM every Friday night.
In addition, the Main Street thoroughfare will become a pedestrian mall with no vehicular traffic on Fridays starting at 4 PM.
All other days will maintain regular hours, from 10 AM to 5 PM.
It’s a huge boost for what has always been one of the Caribbean’s most beautiful historic areas, and should inject new life into downtown.
“The Downtown Historic District is a great place to browse for gifts and souvenirs, get a bite to eat or sip a cold drink,” said US Virgin Islands Tourism Commissioner Joseph Boschulte.
