Sun Country Airlines Is Adding More Flights to Cancun

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - March 7, 2021

Sun Country Airlines is set to expand its network to Cancun this summer, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The low-cost carrier will be adding new nonstop routes to Cancun from both Houston and San Antonio.

On May 27, Sun Country will kick off new flights from Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport, with flights operating twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays.

The following day, Sun Country will launch service from San Antonio to Cancun, with twice-weekly flights on Mondays and Fridays.

The Mexican Caribbean and its major airport continue to see new airlift, with the destination’s relatively strong tourism arrival numbers compared to the rest of the region amid the pandemic.

“We are excited to extend our network and offer people access to even more low-cost vacation options, when they are ready to travel again,” said Sun Country Airlines CEO Jude Bricker. “The past year has been a challenge for the travel industry but with increased access to COVID-19 tests and vaccinations, we’re starting to see that turnaround.”
