Hyatt’s Unbound Collection, one of the company’s independent hotel collections, is expanding to Panama, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The company will be debuting its first Unbound Collection by Hyatt in Panama City with the Hotel La Compañia.

The new property is part of the company’s broader hotel pipeline for the Unbound brand.

It’s slated for a 2022 launch, with construction having resumed since the onset of the pandemic.

It will be set in the Casco Viejo section of Panama City, the city’s charming old town, set in a former Jesuit mission building dating back to the 17th century.

Amenities will include a handful of restaurants and bars and a rooftop lounge.

“With each new hotel opening under Hyatt’s independent collection brands, we are encouraging unique discovery of the local culture or history of the hotel’s location, truly illustrating the spirit of these three distinct brands,” said Katie Johnson, global brand leader, independent collection, Hyatt. “Learning from our guests, members, and customers is key to Hyatt. Each of these hotels accelerates our efforts to expand our independent collections in markets that reach travelers and surprise locals with captivating experiences.”
