French St Martin remains closed to U.S. travelers, but Dutch St Maarten is open and welcoming U.S. and other travelers arriving at Princess Juliana International Airport.
The vast majority of St Maarten hotels are open for business, as are many attractions and restaurants on the island, including:
- Alicia’s Inn: Small, family owned inn located in downtown Philipsburg.
- Atrium Beach Resort and Spa: Beachfront vacation villa property in Simpson Bay, tentatively scheduled to reopen Oct. 1.
- Azure Hotel & Art Studio: Eight-room boutique hotel on Simpson Bay Beach also has an art gallery with works by the hotel owners.
- Belair Beach Hotel: All-suite, mid-rise beach resort on Little Bay.
- Carl’s Unique Inn: Budget-friendly small hotel is off the beach in Cole Bay but close to the airport and the capitals of the French and Dutch sides of the island.
- Divi Little Bay Beach Resort: All-inclusive resort on a peninsula between Little Bay and Great Bay is part of the Divi Resorts group.
- Holland House Beach Hotel: You get the best of both worlds with this chic boutique hotel — on the beach and in town on the Philipsburg boardwalk.
- Horizon View Beach Front Hotel: Downtown Philipsburg hotel convenient to both Great Bay Beach and shopping.
- Horny Toad Guesthouse: Family owned guest house with eight suites, some facing Simpson Bay Beach.
- La Vista Hotel: Sister properties La Vista and La Vista Beach sit side-by-side on the beach in the private Pelican Key Estates community.
- L’Esperance Hotel: 22-suite small hotel with a pool uphill from Little Bay.
- Oyster Bay Beach Resort: This landmark hotel near the Dutch/French border is built on a narrow coral peninsula, guaranteeing spectacular views from all angles.
- Pasanggrahan Boutique Hotel: Historic colonial-era hotel on the Philipsburg waterfront has played host to royalty and has a charming garden restaurant.
- Princess Heights: Luxury condominium resort on an Oyster Pond hillside with ocean views.
- Royal Islander Club: Twin resorts (La Plage and La Terrasse) feature all-suite accommodations at Maho Bay.
- Sea Palace Resort: Multistory hotel on the Philipsburg waterfront offers rooms with unbeatable ocean views and a convenient location.
- Simpson Bay Resort & Casino: Simpson Bay beach resort has 336 suites and 83 two-bedroom villas.
- Sonesta Ocean Point Resort: The island’s leading all-inclusive, an adults-only stunner on Maho Bay.
The Sonesta Maho Beach Resort & Casino: Flagship, full-service 420-room resort on Maho Bay is slated to reopen on Oct. 29.

Airlines currently flying to St. Maarten from the U.S. include American Airlines, JetBlue (which is adding new service from Newark on Nov. 19), United Airlines, and Spirit Airlines. WestJet is flying from Canada.
The borders of nearby Saba remain closed, and the Anguilla ferry is not running. However, flights to St. Barts remain available along with private charter boats. The Great Bay Express ferry is not operating, however, and while the Voyager ferry is running, it departs from Marigot on the French side of the island.
Visitors to St. Maarten are required to complete a health declaration form and take a COVID-19 PCR test within 72 hours of departure, with proof of a negative test result required to travel. Arriving travelers will be required to submit to temperature checks; those with an elevated temperature will be required to undergo a COVID-19 PCR test.
