There’s a New Private International Airport in Turks and Caicos

By: Caribbean Journal Staff

The private island of Ambergris Cay in Turks and Caicos is now home to the longest private runway in the Caribbean.

The newly-rebranded Ambergris Cay International Airport is now home to a 5,700-foot-long private runway that means travelers on private jets can now clear Turks and Caicos Customs and Immigration upon arrival — without having to stop first in Providenciales.

The four-mile-long, one-mile-wide Ambergris Cay is home to the eponymous Ambergris Cay resort, the ultra-luxe all-inclusive resort that is part of the Turks and Caicos Collection of hotels in the destination.

“The experience of Ambergris Cay International Airport is designed to be seamless from the

moment guests touch down on the island,” the Turks and Caicos Collection said in a statement. “Customs and check-in are a relaxing and simple process and upon arrival a dedicated butler takes over to ensure that each stay on Ambergris Cay is a personalized and attentive experience.”

The property first launched in 2018 with 10 private beachfront suites before adding new three and four-bedroom luxury villas last year.
