The island of Anguilla has officially been declared “COVID-19” free.

The World Health Organization has categorized the Caribbean island as having “no cases,” an improvement from a previous designation of “sporadic cases” by the global body.

Anguilla’s borders remain closed to international traffic, however.

And the island has implemented a series of protocols for residents, including staying home if unwell, hand and respiratory hygiene and maintaining a physical distance of at least three feet from other people, particularly those with apparent respiratory symptoms.

“This is an important milestone and a major achievement for Anguilla,” the Anguilla Tourist Board said in a statement.

The island has not given an indication of when it might consider reopening its borders for travelers.
