A New Private-Island Destination Is Coming to St John, USVI
A new private–island resort is coming off the coast of St John in the US Virgin Islands, Caribbean Journal Invest has learned.
The new Lovango Resort and Beach Club will be a fully sustainable resort set on Lovango Cay, just off the coast of St John.
The resort’s first phase opened earlier this year, with an oceanside restaurant and a new ferry running daily from Cruz Bay and from Red Hook.
The restaurant, which is closed for the summer, will be reopening in mid-December 2020.

The second phase of the resort is slated to debut in December 2020, with a beach club, a pool and a club membership.
Lovango will also include a significant real estate component: that includes 14 private home lots available on the island,
The third phase will open in 2021, with a mix of cottages for overnight visitors and a luxury tenting or “glamping” option, too.

That will be called The Lovango Resort and Beach Club.
The project is the brainchild of Little Gem Resorts, a Snider family company, best known for its resort properties in Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket.
“We love islands and hospitality“, said Mark Snider, Managing Director and co-owner of the resort with his wife, Gwenn and Co-Project Managers, Django Broer-Hellerman and son, Matt Snider. “We own and operate two boutique resorts in New England, one on Martha’s Vineyard and one on Nantucket. This gives us confidence that we can create something that’s special on St John. We have vacationed on St John often and love this area.“
It’s the first new resort in St John in years — and the latest in what is now a growing pipeline of new resort projects in the US Virgin Islands, including the recently-announced The Preserve at Botany Bay in St Thomas.
“We are excited to share our guests and employees between New England and the USVI,” said Gwenn Snider. “We look forward to giving USVI residents the opportunity to work both in the USVI and New England- broadening hospitality career options”
