A 42-Acre Cay Off Cat Island for $1.5 Million
As demand for private islands in the wider Caribbean region continues to skyrocket, more buyers are looking for private destinations at all price points.
And there’s no larger concentration of private islands on offer in The Bahamas — like Hawk’s Nest Cay.
The 42-acre private cay off the coast of Cat Island is listed for $1.5 million, making it one of the more “affordable” private destinations in the wider region.
And even on a 42-acre island, there are two vastly different landscapes: to the north, flats and creeks perfect for bonefishing; to the south, a protected reef abutting prime deep sea fishing waters.
The property also comes with a 41-acre lot on the “mainland” of Cat Island that could be used as a launching point.
“Hawk’s Nest Cay has a sheltered and secluded bay on one side and then a bonus 40-acre tract on the mainland is also included in the deal! One could build a set of Boutique Eco-cottages on the cay and then service them from the mainland,” says Leo Huber of Engel & Völkers in Nassau’s Lyford Cay.
Cat Island, which has an international airport with service from South Florida, has a tiny population and some of the region’s most pristine beaches.
