Featured Listing: A Prime Oceanfront Resort Site in Bonaire
At the edge of the southern Caribbean, Bonaire represents one of the great untapped resort opportunities in the Caribbean — and it’s outside of the hurricane belt to boot.
Long a niche destination for diving, Bonaire has quietly become one of the Caribbean’s hottest destinations, with new airlift, a buzzing culinary scene and a thriving watersports scene.
And now the island’s last freehold oceanfront commercial plot is on the market.
The 7.5-acre Santa Barbara development is the “only available privately-held oceanfront commercial plot” in Bonaire, according to Glenn Ford, who is leading marketing efforts for the property.
It’s set on the western coast of Bonaire, with a 656-foot-beach and direct access to the world-famous Andrea public beach. and about 20 minutes from the airport.
“As oceanfront is not available this makes this plot an opportunity,” Ford tells CJI. “Bonaire has around 20 mid-size hotels with only two luxury resorts.”
Ford says it’s a major opportunity for a destination on the rise — meaning significant value.
“Bonaire is still under the radar, but it’s changing at the moment very fast. The Dutch government has been investing since 2010 in a lot of new infrastructure, new hospitals, new police station, new fire department, new airport. Bonaire is still unhurried and unspoiled, so there are many possibilities and opportunities which you don’t have on other islands.”
