How The Moorings Plans to Reopen for Caribbean Sailing Vacations

You’re out on the open water. It’s just you and your family and a well-stocked sailboat.

In other words, a sailing vacation in the Caribbean is one of the most enjoyable forms of social distancing.

And now leading charter company The Moorings has announced how it plans to reopen when the Caribbean’s travel destinations begin opening their borders again.

Every Moorings yacht will be disinfected by fogging immediately upon returning to the dock, before being cleaned, sanitized and disinfected again prior to the next boarding.

The galley inventory pack will be in a sealed box, with “eco-friendly single-use items” available for purchase, too.

All linens will be provided in a verified CSD “clean, sanitize, disinfect) bag, while the new care pack will be provided along with essentials like disinfectant spray, hand wipes and sanitizing products.

Understandably, the company will not be providing complimentary snorkeling gear, with The Moorings recommending that travelers bring their own — or buy it at the marina.

The Moorings has also set out a series of strict guidelines for staff, with daily temperature checks, required personal protective equipment and onboard crew trained in the company’s CSD procedures.

Crew, too, will have to adhere to social distancing.

With a number of Caribbean destinations beginning to plan their tourism reopenings, it means you will soon be able to take that Caribbean yachting vacation —
