The French Caribbean has extended its border shutdown through Monday, May 11.

The move is part of a broader lockdown by the French government that includes a countrywide “shelter at home” order due to the ongoing global fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

The shutdown includes the French Caribbean departments of Martinique and Guadeloupe, along with its overseas territories like St Barth and Saint Martin.

The decision comes as the Caribbean has helped lead by example with aggressive measures across the region.
