The twin-island federation of St Kitts and Nevis has continued its strong measures to fight the coronavirus pandemic.

St Kitts and Nevis has extended its full 24-hour curfew through at least Thursday April 16, officials said.

The extended State of Emergency means no one can be away from their home without special exemption as either an essential worker or with a pass or permission from the country’s Commissioner of Police.

As of the end of last week, the country had 12 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, COVID-19.

To date, 470 people have been released from quarantine.

“This is an unprecedented time and the dangers that confront the Federation demand that Government takes serious actions to confront and overcome this pandemic,” St Kitts and Nevis’ government said in a statement. “These strong measures are in place for the stated term and Government shall continue to evaluate and adapt required measures as necessary as the situation evolves.”
