Puerto Rico’s surging air arrivals continued in December, according to the latest numbers from Mexico-based ASUR, which manages the island’s primary air hub, Luis Munoz International Airport in San Juan.
San Juan reported 937,716 passengers in December, a 19.6 percent increase compared to the same month in 2018.
For the year, San Juan saw a 12.8 percent increase in passenger traffic, with a total of 9.448 million passengers over the calendar year 2019.
That was buoyed by 13.2 percent growth in travel from within the United States, and a 9.7 percent jump in international traffic.
The numbers continue what has been a dramatic resurgence for Puerto Rico’s tourism sector.
