The first flight since Dorian arrives in Grand Bahama on Wednesday.

In a significant step for Grand Bahama’s recovery, the island’s airport has received its first international flights since Hurricane Dorian.

The first U.S. flight to Grand Bahama since Hurricane Dorian arrived from Bristol, Tenn. on Nov. 27.

The Boeing 737 flight on Bahamasair arrived at the Fixed Base Operators at Grand Bahama Airport.

The flight was carrying 138 passengers coming for the 21st annual Tabernacle Falcons Thanksgiving Basketball Classic.

“It was important for us to welcome this first commercial international flight since Hurricane Dorian. Every opportunity to put heads in beds in Grand Bahama is more important now than ever,” said Steven Johnson, General Manager for BMOTA. “Also, we didn’t want to disappoint the students, and families, who look forward to competing in The Bahamas every year, and we felt that this year was particularly important for the local students and families.”
