Sonesta has completed its high-profile relaunch of its two major St Maarten resorts, the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort and the Sonesta Ocean Point Resort.

In a statement this week, Sonesta Resorts St Maarten said the dual-property complex was now “fully operational,” having completed the final stages of rebuilding in the wake of Hurricane Irma.

That includes new accommodations, facilities, restaurants and a new executive team led by Jamie Lee, the recently-appointed vice president of operations and general manager.

It also includes a big focus on the resorts’ culinary program.

“With the introduction of a new executive food and beverage team, a roll out of new culinary offerings is in place, elevating the all-inclusive dining experience with a focus on quality, freshness, variety and authentic international and local flavors that cater to every guests’ preference,” the property said in a statement.

The changes to the campus are vast, ranging from the new, contemporary design to a broad array of eateries from the Asian-style Jing’s Kitchen to the Ascot Pub.

The Sonesta Ocean Point has debuted a new lobby facade, along with the new Casa Blue Tapas Restaurant and Bar on the top of the resort’s signature Azul eatery.

The complex has also revamped its 2,500-square-foot Serenity Spa, with six treatment rooms, a large menu of wraps and scrubs and a pair of pediure and manicure rooms.

Sonesta has also debuted a major new all-inclusive “Entertainment Program,” with day and night activities, a “vibrant” live music schedule, a series of yoga, pilates and wellness classes, a pop theater and “Showcase Masterclass” demonstration sessions, among others.

It’s a triumphant return for what remain the most significant hotel properties in St Maarten – and a strong message of the island’s comeback.
