Costa Rica’s tourism sector is about to get a major boost from Europe.

European carrier KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is launching new flights to Costa Rica, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The air giant is launching four flights per week from Amsterdam to Guanacaste Liberia in Costa Rica.

The flights, which will launch Oct. 29, will be operated on Boeing 787-9 aircraft.

Outbound flights will include a stopover in Costa Rica’s capital, San Jose, according to the company.

The flights will be running on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, according to KLM’s Web site.

Liberia is the major air gateway to Costa Rica’s most popular tourism areas, particularly its largest concentration of all-inclusive hotel properties.

It’s been seeing strong growth in airlift in recent years, particularly from carriers like Southwest.
