Hilton’s fast-growing Curio Collection brand has added a new hotel in Mexico, the company announced this week.

The new Umbral, Curio Collection by Hilton has officially opened its doors in Mexico City.

The 59-room boutique hotel is the product of a restoration of an historic building that was first built in 1924.

The company said the Curio opening reinforced “the growth of its portfolio of one-of-a-kind hotels and resorts in premier destinations across the Caribbean and Latin America.”

“As we continue to strategically expand our presence across Latin America, Mexico remains a priority as one of our fastest growing markets in the region,” said Jorge Giannattasio, senior vice president and head of operations, Caribbean and Latin America, Hilton. “The opening of the distinguished Umbral, Curio Collection by Hilton reinforces our mission to be the world’s most hospitable company throughout this incredible country, in the light of our 100thAnniversary.”

Amenities at the property range from a “sound library,” a cinema, the inclusion of more than 100 pieces of art by local artists like Jorge Montiel and Andre Vores, and a rooftop terrace with a heated pool, among others.

Mexico City has continued to remain a focus in our brand’s expansion to destinations where today’s travelers want to go,” said Mark Nogal, global head, Curio Collection by Hilton. “We look forward to introducing travelers to our unexpected and authentic Curio Collection experiences that truly embody the local culture, while we also prepare for the opening of our second in-market property with Hotel Lafontaine later this year.”
