One of the hottest hotel pipelines in the Caribbean Basin might not be the one you expect.

Set on the southwestern coast of the Caribbean Sea, Colombia has almost 4,000 rooms in construction, according to the latest data from analytics firm STR.

Colombia has 3,826 rooms in construction, the second most in all of Latin America.

That total represents 7.3 percent of its existing hotel room supply, according to the company.

And while Cartagena continues to be the country’s halo destination, the growth has spread across the country, from a surge in Bogota to renewed construction in destinations like Medellin.
