Melia is returning to Costa Rica.

The Spanish hotel giant has signed a deal to rebrand the Hotel Tamarindo Diria Beach Resort as the new Sol Tamarindo.

The rebranding will take effect Aug. 1, according to a statement from the company.

The hotel, which is owned by the Diria Group, is set on the beach with 242 rooms, half of which have ocean views.

The hotel is located about five minutes away from Tamarindo Airport, and about an hour from Liberia Airport.

“We are continuing to strengthen our presence in the main vacation destinations,” said Gabriel Escarrer, executive vice president and CEO of Melia Hotels International. “We welcome the incorporation of the Sol Tamarindo with special enthusiasm.”

Melia had previously operated a Paradisus-branded hotel in Guanacaste.
