It was a strong comeback for Puerto Rico’s Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in the final quarter of 2018, according to newly-released data from airport operator ASUR.

San Juan’s air hub saw a 30.4 percent increase in passenger traffic in the last quarter compared to the same period in the previous year, reflecting the impact — and recovery from — Hurricane Maria.

That included a 29.9 percent increase in domestic traffic and a 34.9 percent increase in international traffic, according to ASUR, which also manages airports in Mexico and Colombia.

Overall, the airport reported a total of 8.373 million passengers in 2018 for the year, down just 0.4 percent compared to 2017.

That included a 1.1 percent increase in domestic traffic to 7.469 million passengers, while international traffic fell for the year by 11.2 percent.
