Silver Airways has postponed the launch of its new service to the Bahamian island of Cat Island.

The new service will begin May 1, according to the company’s Web site.

On May 1, the service will operate twice each week between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Cat Island’s New Bight Airport.

The new service will run on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

It would be significant lift for what has long been one of the undiscovered gems of the Out Islands of The Bahamas.

It’s another new route for Silver, which has been on a broad expansion push in the last year that included the acquisition of leading Caribbean carrier Seaborne.
